Among all the tear gas canisters and thrown rocks that litter the ground at scenes of civil unrest in Greece, there is one unusual denizen that likes to frequent the protests: Kanellos, the protest dog.
Showing up to participate in protests all across Athens, this populist from the puppy proletariat seems to enjoy the energy and excitement of the protests, and often hangs out with protesters when they clash with police. Stray dogs like this are not uncommon in Greece and they are often cared for communally, receiving food and attention from restaurants and friendly tourists. Kanellos isn’t even the only protest dog, there are others that show up for these clashes, presumably because they’re dogs, and dogs love a party.
If you’re familiar with the moronic 4chan memes of Advice Dog, Courage Wolf and Philosoraptor, then you know exactly where I’m going with this.
